Premium Kabusecha Loose Tea from Ise, Japan.
★Grown under double mesh nets
Kabusecha means “shaded tea”, referring to its production process that is quite similar to gyokuro, which is grown in the shade under fine mesh nets. Kabusecha is a delicious and fine tea but quite rare as it represents less than 5% of the total production of green tea in Japan. Especially, this Kabusecha is super rare as it's covered with double nets to block sun light. The tea leaves are becoming thinner and softer due to the limited sun light, so this tea has more umami and sweetness.
Our Kabusecha is meticulously cultivated on small, family-owned tea fields in Mie, Japan - a region known for high quality tea leaves. The tea fields are in a mountain area close to Ise Jingu where the morning fog of river ‘Miya-gawa’ nurtures the young leaves. They served their hand-rolled tea in G7 Ise-Shima summit 2016 which made the guests be surprized.
These superb green tea leaves are very fragrant in the first opened package and have a very complex taste(umami flavors and elegant aromas) that will appeal to green tea lovers. Some people may say it's like seaweed aroma and it always give tea lovers be surprized and impressed!
◆What's the difference from Gyokuro?
The tea leaves of Gyokuro are also shaded with the nets for 2-3
weeks before harvesting. Kabusecha is shaded for about 10 days to 2 weeks and can be described as a hybrid of sencha and gyokuro. Also, Kabusecha can be extracted at higher temperature than Gyokuro (Kabusecha: 60-70℃ / Gyokuro: 40-50℃) , so it's easier to brew at home.
